Overview (2024–2027)
In 2024, the CSAE Board of Directors completed a comprehensive review of the organization’s strategic direction. Grounded in member research and sector data, the refreshed plan builds on the foundation set in 2021 and will guide CSAE’s focus over the next several years.
At its core, the strategy reinforces CSAE’s commitment to strengthening the association sector across Canada, expanding its membership, reach, and influence.
Our Strategic Focus
1. Champion for Associations in Canada
CSAE will strengthen its role as the national voice of the association sector, advancing awareness, advocacy, and recognition of the critical role associations play in Canada’s social and economic landscape.
Key priorities include:
- Growing and strengthening the association community CSAE represents
- Increasing engagement across the sector
- Expanding visibility and influence with government, media, and key stakeholders
- Building a robust, data-driven research agenda to inform and elevate the sector
Success will be measured through growth in representation, increased sector recognition, stronger stakeholder engagement, and long-term public awareness of the value of associations in Canadian society.
2. Centre of Excellence for the Canadian Association Sector
As associations navigate increasing complexity, CSAE will serve as the hub for leadership, learning, and innovation. This strategy positions CSAE as the trusted source for professional development, certification, collaboration, and operational excellence.
Key priorities include:
- Delivering industry-leading certification through the CAE designation
- Expanding high-quality professional development opportunities
- Creating meaningful connections between association professionals and supplier partners
- Demonstrating leadership in social responsibility
- Modeling effective and efficient association management
Success will be reflected in member satisfaction and retention, strong participation and engagement in CSAE offerings, growing recognition of the CAE designation within job postings, and increased revenue through industry partnerships.

This strategic plan provides a clear roadmap for CSAE’s continued growth and impact. Annual operating plans will translate these priorities into focused actions and measurable outcomes.
