    Volunteer Community

    CSAE volunteers represent members from across Canada. There are currently over 150 active volunteers contributing their time, creativity and expertise to add value to the membership community and association sector. CSAE volunteers’ contributions align with the Strategic Plan to advance association excellence. CSAE recognizes and celebrates volunteers’ time, talents, contributions and dedication to CSAE and the association sector. CSAE thanks all volunteers for their support, dedication and leadership.

    Board of Directors (Applications Open Summer 2023)

    Board of Directors

    The Board of Directors assumes overall responsibility for the governance of CSAE, establishes policy to provide direction for the organization, sets strategic priorities towards achieving the Mission and Vision and monitors the overall performance of the Board, the President & CEO and the organization.

    Board Standing Committees (Applications Open Summer 2023)

    Finance and Audit Committee (FAC)

    The principal responsibility of the FAC committee is to provide financial expertise; along with internal and external oversight to support the fiduciary responsibilities of the Board of Directors.

    Governance Committee

    The principal responsibility of the governance committee is to identify, promote and discharge functions designed to ensure CSAE is governing with excellence and complying with legislation and regulations that apply to it.

    Recruitment and Selection Sub-Committee (RSSC)

    The RSSC is responsible for the recruitment and screening of candidates interested in election to the board of directors, and the presentation of a Recommended Slate of Nominees, to ensure that CSAE is governed with excellence and vision.

    Working Groups (Applications Open Fall 2023)

    Association Centre of Excellence Awards Committee

    The association centre of excellence awards committee is a working group focused on the development and advancement of CSAE’s association centre of excellence awards initiatives.

    Communications Advisory Group (CAG)

    The CAG acts as a consultative group that supports communications excellence at CSAE, by providing input on communications gaps, needs and opportunities on communications activities and reputation management.

    Government Relations Advisory Group (GR)

    The principal responsibility of the GR Advisory Group is to identify priority issues CSAE should present in its advocacy and government relations initiatives and develop supporting strategy and action plans.

    Leadership Awards and Recognition Committee

    The leadership awards and recognition committee is a working group focused on the development and advancement of CSAE’s leadership awards, bursaries, and recognition initiatives.

    Networks (Applications Open Fall 2023)

    The Mighty Ones Advisory Group

    The principal responsibility of the Mighty Ones advisory group is to create a network for leaders of small associations to share success stories, explore creative solutions and discuss unique challenges.

    Young Professionals (YP) Advisory Group

    The principal responsibility of the YP advisory group is to create a network for young professionals to learn, connect and engage in the association.

    Signature Events

    Tête-à-Tête

    The Tête-à-Tête planning committee assists CSAE in creating and delivering a successful event.

    Conference Education Committee

    The conference education committee is a group tasked with assisting CSAE in developing the educational program for the annual conference.

    Conference Host Committee

    The mandate of the host committee is to assist CSAE in creating and delivering a successful conference while highlighting the unique characteristics and benefits of the host city.

    Summer Summit

    The summer summit planning committee assists CSAE in creating and delivering a successful event.

    CAE® Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

    Credit is granted for community leadership and volunteerism. Serving on a Board/committee /task force with a not-for-profit, professional/trade association or charity. Must be outside of normal job responsibilities. Based on actual time contributed (not to exceed 12 hours per two-year reporting period), learn more.
