• Learner’s Digest: August 2020

Happy August! I hope you’ve been finding ways to enjoy the summer. I was lucky to spend time at my parents’ home on the French River — it was a great place to recharge and still get a lot of work done. It sounds like we’re in this for the long haul, so finding some balance in our lives is going to be critical for all of us. Particularly because we’re just constantly faced with so much change, which is – quite frankly – somewhat exhausting!

Some of the changes I’ve been working on include transitioning to CSAE’s first ever virtual annual conference. Keeping participants connected through creative ways has been important, and the Think Tanks launched in June kicked things off. These groups meet monthly to dig into specific topic areas, learn from each other and share challenges and solutions. Be part of these evolving discussions led by some truly talented facilitators. The Think Tanks are included with conference registration.

The CSAE Solutions Café is another unique way you can engage and learn. This virtual session will use the world café methodology to explore what’s working across the association sector. I’m looking forward to learning from my peers in the sector and hope you’ll join us to share your own successes. All of these pre-conference events are building up to the week of November 2-6, when the bulk of the conference content will be delivered. You can take part in traditional online presentations like webinars, as well as more interactive programming including facilitated discussions, ask-the-expert sessions, keynotes, informal chat meetings that you can schedule independently, and fun networking opportunities. Using a variety of engaging and interactive platforms, the program is flexible so you can focus on the subjects and sessions most relevant to your needs. If you’re struggling with shaping your own virtual conference, we hope you’ll join us to get some ideas on what you like and might want to reproduce, and what you think doesn’t work and will want to avoid.

I encourage you to learn more below and join us in the coming months and in November! While we won’t be sharing meals in person, sitting next to each other at physical tables or dancing the night away at the annual party, we are going to interact, connect, laugh and learn. I can’t wait to see you all there!

    CSAE Conference 2020: Unprecedented

Mark your calendars for a virtual conference like no other – November 2-5, 2020! While we’re unable to gather in Halifax as originally planned, you’ll want to be part of Unprecedented. The highly interactive, flexible program includes the concurrent sessions and keynotes you’ve come to expect from a CSAE conference, and also includes multiple elements to get you and your peers across the country engaged and interacting.

The flexible schedule allows you to pick and choose the sessions most critical to you. Whatever your time zone, you’ll find lots of value for your registration fee.

And – don’t forget, the rest of the conference outside of this dedicated week has already begun – and continues through December. This includes:

    • Monthly Association Think Tanks (for a taste, click here)
    • World Café (September 30, 1 pm ET) & other networking and learning opportunities
    • Virtual Exhibit Hall
