CSAE Honoured for Sustainability Leadership and Carbon-Neutral 2025 Summer Summit
CSAE is proud to announce it has been recognized by Sustainable Waterloo Region for its outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship. The award, presented at the Evening of Recognition held at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, celebrates CSAE’s achievement of carbon neutrality for its 2025 Summer Summit and its ongoing leadership in advancing sustainability within the association sector.
Carrie Fischer, CSAE’s Director of Strategy & Engagement, was on hand to formally collect the award on behalf of the organization, from Tova Davidson, Executive Director of SWR.
Leading by Example
The recognition highlights a pivotal milestone in CSAE’s strategic objective to be a leader in social responsibility. The 2025 Summer Summit served as a successful proof-of-concept, demonstrating that large-scale professional development events can be executed with net-zero environmental impact through rigorous carbon tracking, waste reduction, and strategic offsetting.
However, the award also acknowledges CSAE’s role beyond its own operations. By documenting the journey toward carbon neutrality and sharing those insights with its members, CSAE has provided a scalable roadmap for associations across Canada to follow.
“At CSAE, we lead by doing,” said CEO & President of CSAE, Tracy Folkes Hanson. “We’ve treated our sustainability journey as a case study for the entire sector, ensuring that every lesson we learned at the Summer Summit becomes a shared resource for our community.”
A Commitment to Social Responsibility
This accolade reinforces CSAE’s dedication to being a leader in social responsibility. By prioritizing environmental impact in its event planning, CSAE is not only reducing its footprint but also empowering its members- the leaders of Canada’s association sector- to adopt similar practices within their own organizations.
The Evening of Recognition brings together sustainability champions from across the region to celebrate impactful projects and strategies. CSAE is honored to stand alongside these organizations as they work together toward a more sustainable future.
