An Update from the Board Chair & CEO

With the sun shining and the promise of warmer weather, it’s hard to imagine that the world is still in the grasp of a global pandemic and economic crisis. From all corners, people, industries – indeed, most aspects of life, have been affected by COVID-19. Impacts have been felt by many associations and businesses that support the sector. 

One thing that has not changed is CSAE’s commitment to our membership and our mission-critical work to deliver the knowledge, resources and environment to advance association excellence. Supporting members during this time remains our top priority. 

During the recent board of directors meeting, the board discussed the strategic direction for CSAE during this turbulent time and into the future. We are encouraged by the adaptability of the organization to quickly pivot and adjust to immediate needs while maintaining a strong focus on the longer-term vision, to best serve the needs and interests of the membership.

Upon the recommendation of the nominating and board development committee, the board is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Williams, founder and principal, Williams HR Law. Laura will fill the business member vacancy created when Don Leddy took on a new role at the Beanfield Centre. We thank Don for his service and wish him well in his new position.  We welcome Laura, who brings extensive experience providing strategic advice and legal representation to employers on a full range of labour and employment law matters, and has been an active speaker, instructor and thought leader in the association community and beyond.

CSAE is positioned to maintain resiliency in spite of the current challenges while delivering on its commitment to members. You can count on the dedication of the CSAE board, network councils and committees, and the leadership team to build a strong future for the association sector.
