• CSAE Ottawa Gatineau September (Virtual) Kick-off

CSAE Ottawa Gatineau kicking off the 2021-22 programming season with a virtual Makatew Medicine Bag Workshop hosted by Ottawa Gatineau’s very own Marc Forgette.

    Date: Tuesday, Sept. 28, 4:00 – 5:30 pm EDT

    Registration fee:  $35 + tax for CSAE members — $45 + tax for non-members

Learn how to create a traditional Medicine Bag in this fascinating workshop, where Marc will share stories about the origins of the materials and the cultural significance of the bag. Discover how non-Indigenous allies can support Indigenous artisans, entrepreneurs and knowledge-keepers by taking some thoughtful yet simple steps to appreciate, rather than appropriate, Indigenous culture.

Plus, find out what’s on the horizon for CSAE OG, including upcoming What’s Brewing Ottawa Gatineau sessions, and the 2022 Tête-à-Tête (spoiler alert – an in-person event!). CSAE members from across Canada are welcome.  Because this event requires workshop materials to be shipped in advance, please be sure to include a current mailing address with your registration, and register no later than Friday, Sept. 17. The registration fee for this event will cover participant materials and related costs. Any net revenue generated from this event will be donated by CSAE to Indian Residential Schools Survivors Society.

Our event will be held just before Orange Shirt Day (Sept. 30). If you would like to purchase an Orange Shirt in support of Indigenous Residential School reconciliation, we encourage you to support Indigenous businesses when doing so. A listing of official Orange Shirt suppliers can be found at https://www.orangeshirtday.org/shirt-retailers.html

We look forward to seeing you on Sept. 28!
