    Beth McMahon, Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Institute of Planners

    Beth McMahon is the CEO of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), the national voice of the professional planning profession, with over 8,000 members across Canada and around the globe. Over the last five years, and with leadership from CIP’s members, Beth has guided the development and implementation of CIP’s policies on climate change, healthy communities, reconciliation, and equity, diversity, and inclusion.

    Prior to CIP, Beth held the position of Vice-President of Government and Public Affairs for the Canadian Vintners Association, as well Executive Director of both the Canadian Organic Growers and the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network.

    She is a graduate of the University of Toronto and received her Master’s in Environmental Studies from York University; she also completed the Ivey Business School’s CommunityShift leadership program.

    Beth lives on the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg people, near Ottawa, Ontario, with her husband and two daughters.

    Bob Masterson, President & CEO, Chemistry Industry Association of Canada

    Bob Masterson is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC).  He is the chief spokesperson and leading advocate for Canada’s chemistry and plastics industry, the country’s third largest manufacturing sector.

    In this role, Bob is focussed on three priorities: Improving Canada’s investment and regulatory environment to have the chemistry and plastics sector recognized as a leader in (or driver of) the emerging circular and net carbon zero economy; ensuring the activities of the industry are aligned with societal expectations through Responsible Care®, the made in Canada and now global ESG initiative for the industry; and building a diverse, trusted and healthy workplace. while sustaining CIAC as a Great Place to Work Canada® Certified™

    Bob holds an engineering degree from Queen’s University, and Masters Public Administration from Carleton University.  He is a Chartered Director through the McMaster DeGroote School of Business and recently joined the Board of Directors of Women Building Futures™ an organization focussed on creating opportunities for women in the skilled trades.

    Moderated by Mathieu Langelier, Executive Director, International Actuarial Association

    Mathieu Langelier has been the Executive Director of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) for 6 years, specializing in international representation, governance and organisational change. Prior to this role, Mathieu was the youngest ever CEO of the Financial Management Institute of Canada for 3 years during which he solved important governance matters and introduced a new area of collaborative work with provincial Chapters.

    His love to tackle tough challenges also brought him in the private sector as a Risk Manager in mortgage insurance before working as a consultant in the General Insurance industry.

    Mathieu holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Economics and Politics and a Master’s in Public Administration.
